When we visit Oregon, our home base is a little town called Prineville.
Find a map, put your finger on the center point in the state...that's about right.
So, after landing in Portland we have a three hour drive...
over the mountain,
through the Indian reservation
and past some rim rocks to get where we want to be.

Yesterday, on our way over Mt. Hood,
we stopped at Timberline Lodge
{made famous in The Shining}
for a walk and a bite to eat.
That's the peak of Hood...the part that's above the timber line...and a few hikers
reflected in the big window of the lodge.

The mountain is visible for miles.
And from so many angles.
You just never know what bend in the road or glance in the rear-view
will bring it into view.

  3. The first shot is perfect : I like a quiet view on snowy mountains. And the blue sky is awesome, with all that snow.
